On April 22, the lecture on Government-sponsored Overseas Travel Administration and Foreign Affairs Protocol was successfully held in our university. The event was guided by the Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Province, hosted by Guizhou Provincial Education International Exchange Association, and undertaken by Guizhou Jiaotong Vocational University.
Jiang Mao, Deputy Director (in charge of daily work) of the Overseas Administration Division, and Hu Yujue, Deputy Director (in charge of daily work) of the Protocol Division of Guizhou Foreign Affairs Office, delivered special reports. More than 180 participants attended the event, including section-level and above cadres, foreign affairs liaisons from all departments and colleges of our university, as well as faculty representatives from 22 vocational colleges across Guizhou Province. Participants jointly studied foreign affairs norms and discussed ways to improve foreign-related service capabilities.
This lecture serves as a key initiative of Guizhou Jiaotong Vocational University to advance the standardized and professional development of foreign affairs work. The university attached great importance to the event. Zhan Qianjiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President, coordinated the overall arrangement and met with the two experts before the lecture. He stated that the training is expected to further enhance faculty’s understanding of policies on official overseas visits and their competency in foreign reception services, injecting new momentum into the university’s international exchanges and cooperation.
During the lecture, Jiang Mao gave a systematic interpretation of government-sponsored overseas travel, covering policy requirements, approval procedures, risk prevention and control, and recent provincial optimization measures. With detailed content and strong practical guidance, his sharing provided clear guidelines for standardized foreign-related work in higher education institutions.
Focusing on practical foreign affairs protocol, Hu Yujue combined rich professional experience to elaborate on reception standards, key points of cross-cultural communication and protocol etiquette in an easy-to-understand manner. Typical cases were cited to enhance the pertinence and practicality of the training, helping participants improve the organization capacity of foreign-related activities.
Notably, international student volunteers from our university also participated in the event. Leveraging their Chinese language and cultural competence, they assisted with venue guidance, document distribution and pre-meeting preparations, forming a distinctive highlight of cross-cultural communication on site.
