Recently, the closing ceremony of the 2026 "Knowing Guizhou" Silk Road Youth Exchange Program – Traffic Guizhou: Super Bridges See Guizhou Study Tour was held at Guizhou Communications Polytechnic University. A total of 20 faculty members and students from Universidad Tecnológica Salestina in Ecuador and Hong Kong College of Technology in China, over a seven-day study tour, gained an in-depth appreciation of the unique charm of Guizhou as the "World Museum of Bridges" and its diverse ethnic culture.

Co-hosted by Guizhou Communications Polytechnic University and Anshun Vocational and Technical College, this study tour represents an important practice of the university's commitment to deepening international educational cooperation and serving people-to-people bonds under the Belt and Road Initiative. During the program, participants visited Guizhou Communications Polytechnic University and Anshun Vocational and Technical College to experience the vitality of vocational education; toured the Huayu Lake Bridge, Baling River Bridge, and Pingtang Te Bridge to witness firsthand the wisdom and power of these super engineering projects, deeply grasping the spirit of Guizhou's transportation workers who "build roads through mountains and bridges over waters"; experienced autonomous minibuses at the local Guizhou enterprise PIX Moving to appreciate cutting-edge intelligent manufacturing technology; marveled at the natural wonders of Huangguoshu Waterfall, gazed at the vast universe at the Pingtang FAST telescope, and traced Guizhou's historical evolution at the Guizhou Provincial Museum. This journey of "integrating knowledge and action" enabled every participant to acquire knowledge and forge friendships alike.

Leveraging the distinctive "Guizhou Craftsman Workshop" platform for new energy vehicles, the university's School of Automotive Engineering brought together young students from the three institutions to conduct joint research and seminars focused on cutting-edge intelligent technologies for new energy vehicles. At the event, students from the three schools used PIX Moving's intelligent autonomous vehicles as the seminar platform, sequentially presenting their scientific and technological achievements in building intelligent inspection simulation models and algorithm development, while engaging in in-depth discussions on technical bottlenecks and optimization challenges. The overseas partner institutions introduced their distinctive practical teaching systems in detail, and the diverse exchanges further enriched and deepened the practical dimension of the "Knowing Guizhou" Youth International Exchange Program.

At the closing ceremony, student representatives from both regions shared their study insights and reflections. Gao Zixiang, a student from Hong Kong College of Technology, said: "In the past, I rarely had the opportunity to interact deeply with foreign peers of my age. This exchange allowed me to break free from a one-dimensional perspective and truly experience the concrete differences between Chinese and foreign cultures. I sincerely hope that this encounter can serve as a new starting point – whether young friends from Ecuador or Hong Kong, we can join hands to continue this precious friendship and together stride toward a broader world."

Student representatives Steven and Hugo from Universidad Tecnológica Salestina in Ecuador expressed that their days in Guizhou were an extremely unforgettable experience. They visited world-class super bridges, and what they saw with their own eyes was truly breathtaking. At the same time, they made many friends from Hong Kong, sharing visits and laughter together – these beautiful moments will forever remain etched in their hearts.

Professor Juan Diego Valladolid said with great emotion in his speech: "This is my third visit to China, but I have never had a better time than this. I am grateful for every moment we shared this week – understanding Guizhou's culture, technology, and super bridges was certainly significant, but more importantly, it was the profound friendship we forged during this study tour. Now that we are about to return, my only regret is that we could not spend more time with our friends from the Hong Kong delegation and the faculty and students of Guizhou Communications Polytechnic University. Nevertheless, we leave with hearts full of happiness and look forward to meeting again in the future."

The successful hosting of this study tour has further solidified the cooperative foundation between our university and Universidad Tecnológica Salestina in Ecuador and Hong Kong College of Technology, laying a solid groundwork for future in-depth collaboration in talent cultivation, academic exchanges, and joint program development. The university will continue to build on this platform, uphold an open educational philosophy, continuously broaden its international exchange horizons, and innovate models of foreign cooperation, so as to continuously empower the cultivation of high-quality technical and skilled talents with a global perspective.
